About Shares

Shares Magazine was launched in 1999 and has built up a loyal base of readers and won numerous industry awards staying true to its mission statement of being seen to be the "Champion of the Private Investor".

The Magazine has built a deserved reputation as the investor's champion, consistently identifying companies where there is shareholder concern and providing in-depth and timely analysis of issues that are important to the private shareholder.

Shares Magazine is the weekly sister publication of MoneyAM and is primarily aimed at the increasing number of private investors who are trading in UK equities.

Each week an experienced team of financial journalists provide comprehensive weekly commentary on up to 150 companies and the view of each company is encapsulated in the unique, must read 'Shares Says' box at the end of each piece.

The magazine publishes exclusive share tips in its .Plays of the Week. pages. These are highly regarded by the City, to the extent that the prices of companies tipped each Thursday often see an immediate spike in their share price.

The experience and skill of the magazines commentators is evident from the excellent record for producing profits for readers. At the beginning of 2007, the team devised three separate portfolios:

  • Large and mid caps
  • Small cap/ Aim
  • High Risk

Shares also provides extensive coverage of the results, announcements and price movements of AIM and small cap companies. This is a sector of the stock market that is rarely covered by mainstream City analysts and national newspapers and as such Shares Magazine has become a primary source of information on smaller companies for many private investors.

In addition the magazine provides unique coverage with regular sections on:

  • Online trading
  • Spread betting
  • Binary betting
  • Contracts for Difference (CFDs)
  • Futures and options
  • Forex (FX)
  • Managed funds
  • Investment opportunities
  • Tax planning
  • Trading software
  • Short-term tips for traders
  • Technical analysis plays from the Shares Chartist
