The aim of the Fund is to grow the amount you invested. The Fund invests at least two-thirds of its assets in shares of smaller companies in the UK or companies that have significant operations there. The smaller companies that the Fund invests in will typically be companies included in the Numis Smaller Companies Index and/or listed on the London Stock Exchanges Alternative Investment Market. The Fund may also invest in asset classes and instruments different from those stated above.
James Thorne joined the company in 2010 and is responsible for co-managing the Threadneedle UK Smaller Companies Fund, the Threadneedle UK Mid 250 Fund and a range of small cap institutional portfolios. He is also responsible for generating small cap ideas for the company’s UK portfolios. James has extensive experience of the smaller companies sector, having worked at Baring Asset Management, Hill Samuel and Abbey Life as well as private equity company 3i. He has a BSc in Oceanography with Geology from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester.
