The fund aims to maximise total return (the combination of income and growth of capital) by investing mainly in bonds issued by governments and companies in emerging markets. It can also invest in emerging market currencies. Exposure to these assets is gained through physical holdings and the use of derivatives. The portfolio’s positioning is influenced by global and country-specific macroeconomic factors, followed by in-depth analysis of individual bond issues.
Claudia Calich joined M&G in October 2013 as a specialist in emerging markets debt and was appointed fund manager of the M&G Emerging Markets Bond Fund in December 2013.
