Power provider Aggreko has signed a contract worth about $35 million to supply temporary power generation for the 2008 Olympics.
Chief executive Rupert Soames said: 'We are delighted to have signed this contract, which is one of the largest contracts ever awarded for temporary power for a sporting event.'
Aggreko will provide up to 160 mega watts of power across 40 Olympic venues in six cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Qinhaungdao and Tianjin.
Evolution Securities analyst Andrew Darke said the contract value is already in the current year forecasts. Despite this, shares were up 2.5%, or 12.3 pence to 504p.
Darke added that the most significant factor in the contract is the longer term marketing opportunity in China, a market Aggreko only started to supply less than a year ago when it opened in Shanghai. Darke has a 'buy' rating on the stock.
