The objective of this fund is to provide growth by investing predominantly in shares of UK companies. The fund currently has a target to outperform the benchmark (‘The FTSE All-Share Index’) by 1.25% per annum before charges, measured over rolling three year periods.UK Select Equity is managed actively, but with reference to the benchmark. The fund aims to outperform the benchmark by taking active positions. The risk of those active positions is constrained such that the tracking error against the benchmark aims to stay within a range of 1.5% to 4.5%. The fund is also constrained so it can deviate from the benchmark by no more than 5% for any individual company and 6% for any industry sector. Typically the fund will have a concentrated portfolio of 45-65 companies. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in a broad range of shares of UK companies. These are companies that are incorporated or headquartered or which have their principal business activities in the UK. The fund may also invest in other investment funds and hold shares in other UK listed companies. The fund may use derivatives (contracts which have a value linked to the price of another asset) to: • reduce risk or cost; or • generate additional capital or income with no, or an acceptably low, level of risk. The fund may also invest in cash or deposits.
