To deliver long-term capital growth by investing primarily in the shares of smaller companies incorporated in Continental Europe. For this purpose, smaller companies are defined as those falling within the bottom 25% of the total market capitalisation of all publicly listed equity in Continental Europe. The Fund may also invest in smaller companies incorporated in Continental Europe but listed on a United Kingdom exchange. The Fund may also invest in medium sized and larger companies in order to enhance its liquidity.
Sam manages European smaller company assets. He is the lead manager of European Assets Trust, F&C European Small Cap and F&C European Small Cap ex UK. He began his career in 2000 as a European institutional analyst at Invesco before moving to Fortis Investments as a portfolio manager within their European smaller companies team. He joined the group in 2010 from BNP Investment Partners. Sam graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics from Nottingham University in 1999. He is CFA charterholder.
Lucy joined F&C in 2007 and focused initially on performance analysis. She moved to the European equities team in 2011, since when she has specialised in managing smaller company mandates. Lucy graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in psychology in 2006. She is a CFA Charterholder.
