Avon Protection PLC, up 8.9% at 1,245.22 pence, 12-month range 860.00-3,660.00p. The personal protection company rises as Germany announces plans to ramp up defence spending. The FTSE 350 Aerospace & Defense index is the best performing sector on Monday, up 8.0%.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

McColl’s Retail Group PLC, down 50% at 3.49p, 12-month range 2.35-40.58p. The convenience store chain confirms Sky News report that it is working with advisers to find a buyer or investors willing to inject fresh capital to avoid administration. McColl’s confirms it recently received an approach for the whole business from an unnamed buyer, which has subsequently been withdrawn. Says there are no further discussions with that party or any other in relation to an offer for the whole business. In addition, McColl’s says has also received indications of interest for parts of the business. The board will consider all options to maximise value for stakeholders, it adds.

JPMorgan Russian Securities PLC, down 25% at 368.60p, 12-month range 364.00p-894.00p. Raven Property Group Ltd, down 22% at 15.95p, 12-month range 15.22p-36.90p. Hyve Group PLC, down 10% at 79.75p, 12-month range 79.75p-158.20p. Shares in the companies - significantly exposed to Russian business - fall sharply after after world powers imposed harsh sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Raven invests in Russian commercial property; Hyve organises business events in Russia.
