Greatland Gold PLC said on Thursday it started its 2022 exploration programme at its 100% owned project in the Paterson province of Western Australia.

The Australia-focused mining development and exploration company commenced an exploration programme at its Scallywag project aimed at understanding the area and its new conductor targets.

Greatland said the campaign at Scallywag follows ‘encouraging’ exploration results reported last year, in which four of seven holes intercepted gold mineralisation.

The firm also began maiden exploration drilling activities at its newly acquired Rudall and Pascalle licences.

‘Rudall [is] considered to be prospective for Havieron and Telfer style gold-copper occurrences, while Pascalle sits directly between the two world class discoveries of Havieron and Telfer,’ Managing Director Shaun Day explained.

‘We look forward to unlocking value by systematically progressing exploration through these Havieron and Telfer like priority targets to take advantage of our strong position in this prospective region,’ Day added.

Shares in Greatland Gold were down 1.3% at 9.68 pence each on Thursday morning in London.
