FTSE faces quiet Friday with UK macro data in focus

London equities will open to a session quiet in terms of corporate news, with traders looking to UK's goods trade balance, construction output and consumer inflation expectations data out mid morning.
This follows softness on Wall St overnight, although some Asian indices made progress. On the US data front, wholesale inventories will be in focus.
US & ASIA
On Wall St overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.25% to 18,479.91, the S&P 500 lost 0.22% to 2181.3 and the Nasdaq Composite shed 46% to 5259.48.
In Asia this morning, the Nikkei 225 had gained 0.14% to 16,983.17, while the Hang Seng firmed 0.96% to 24,147.79.
At 5.59am, WTI crude was down 0.84% to $47.22/bbl and Brent was down 0.92% to $49.53/bbl. Gold was up 0.08% to $1342.7/oz.
Shareholder meetings are scheduled by Amur Minerals, Hornby, Scholium, Schroder Real Estate IT and Victoria.
