Cohort subsidiary MCL (Marlborough Communications Ltd) has been awarded two contracts worth a total of £5.5m by the Ministry of Defence to supply and support hearing protection systems and communication ancillaries for land, maritime and air applications.
Cohort said the two orders comprised: - a follow-on order worth £3.2m for Tactical Hearing Protection Systems for Dismounted Close Combat Users (THPS DCCU) that provide hearing protection for RAF, Royal Navy and Reservist personnel - a new contract to provide In Ear Communication Devices (IECD) for RAF pilots and air crew, with an initial value of £2.3m over five years with options for a further two years Cohort said these followed previous MoD contract awards for hearing protection announced in 2015 and more recently in March 2017.
It said the THPS DCCU solution being supplied by MCL had been developed in partnership with INVISIO Communications, a leading Danish audio technology company, while the IECD for RAF and air crews was being developed in conjunction with Banbury-based Advanced Communication Solutions.
Cohort chief executive Andy Thomis said: "This is another great success for MCL, and its partners, in hearing protection.
"These two further contracts bring the total number of recent awards to four with a combined value to the group of around £30m, further cementing MCL's position as the MoD's leading supplier of hearing protection systems for the military.
"This and other recent contract awards enhance the visibility of future group revenue."
