Wall Street got off to a positive start to trading on Wednesday, ahead of former FBI director James Comey's congressional testimony regarding links between the Trump administration and Russia before he was fired.
Commodities were weaker with crude oil and gold prices taking a downward turn.
Shortly after the open, the Dow was up by 0.17% at 21,172.81, the S&P 500 was 0.15% higher at 2,433.05 and the Nasdaq added 0.27% at 6,291.72.
RISERS AND FALLERS
Early risers on the Dow included Nike, Goldman Sachs and IBM, with all stocks up around 1%, while Coca-Cola and General Electric were leading to the downside.
On the Nasdaq, Micron Technology, Tesla and NetEase were all higher.
At 2:40pm (GMT), WTI crude was 1.22% lower at $47.6/bbl and Brent was down 1.08% at $49.58/bbl. Gold was 0.35% lower at $1,292.9/oz.
Monthly consumer credit data is due later today.
