Co-operative Bank is holding talks existing investors to raise further funds.

The bank - which put itself up for sale in February - said it noted recent media speculation and confirmed that it was in advanced discussions with a group of existing investors with a view to a prospective equity capital raise and liability management exercise.

The bank also said that it and other relevant parties continued active discussions regarding separation of the Co-operative Pension Scheme.

The bank said it continued to fully discuss both the sale process and the capital raise options with the Prudential Regulation Authority, which had welcomed the sale and capital raise process.
