National Express Group said its third-quarter normalised pre-tax profit rose 12.3% after it carried more passengers on its buses and trains. Revenue jumped 6.4% after passenger volumes grew by 2.5%. The company said it was on course to deliver on its profit, free-cash and leverage targets for the year. National Express has reversed a decline in its UK bus business, secured growth in its coach business despite recent terrorist attacks, enjoyed a good summer in Spain and secured a strong start to the school year in the US, chief executive Dean Finch said.
