KAZ Minerals has increased its guidance for copper and gold production following a strong third quarter.
Copper production increased by 14% to 75 kt in Q3 (Q2 2017: 66 kt) as Aktogay ramped up and full year has been increased to 250-270 k.
The group also raised gold production guidance to 160-180 koz.
Chief executive Oleg Novachuk said: 'Following another strong quarter from our new sulphide operations at Aktogay we have raised the group's copper production guidance for 2017 to 250-270 kt.
'Aktogay's sulphide concentrator reached commercial levels of production at the end of Q3 and we expect to reach full capacity during 2018.
'At Bozshakol, the main concentrator operated at 100% of design throughput in August.
'KAZ Minerals is rapidly improving its gearing metrics as we deliver against our operational targets in an improving market for copper.'
