Madrid, June 14th, 2018: The Board of Directors of El Corte Inglés, at a meeting held today, has unanimously resolved to appoint Jesús Nuño de la Rosa as Group President. The Company's governing body has considered a change of leadership necessary to face the future challenges and drive a new period of growth.
Jesús Nuño de la Rosa has many years of wide-ranging experience in the world of business and finance, enabling him to take on the Group's new challenges. He takes over in this position from Dimas Gimeno, who became President in September, 2014.
Jesús Nuño de la Rosa y Coloma (Madrid, 1963) has an honours degree in Economics and Business Management from the Complutense University in Madrid. Most of his career has been at the helm of Viajes El Corte Inglés, the travel agency business of which he was general manager between 1998 and October, 2017, when he became Managing Director of the Group. Nuño de la Rosa, who also is also a trustee of the Ramón Areces Foundation, stands out for his understanding of the world of business, particularly the hotel and tourism sector, as well as international markets, as demonstrated by the extensive network that Viajes El Corte Inglés has built up around the world.
Jesús Nuño de la Rosa will be supported by Víctor del Pozo as Managing Director to oversee business growth in the retail area. Del Pozo is an economics graduate with an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa business school and a PDG management degree from IESE. He has considerable experience in the world of retail distribution and has been in the Department Store Group for more 25 years after joining at only 18 years of age and working his way up through various areas of the Company.
