Downing Strategic Micro-Cap Investment Trust reported Friday a fall in first-half net assets as micro-cap shares in its portfolio were rocked by a jittery global market.

For the six months to 31 August, net assets fell 5.40% to £48.95m, and its shares were down by 3.3% at 90.5p.

The company said October's market correction should not be viewed as a 'catastrophic' event. A correction, or a 'reset' was needed from time to time, it added.
