Aura Energy Ltd on Friday said it will start a 10,000 metre infill drilling programme at its Tiris uranium project in Mauritania on May 30.

Aura Energy is an Australia-based minerals company with polymetallic and uranium projects in Europe and Africa.

The company said the diamond drilling will aim to increase the proportion of measured and indicated resources from 34% of total resource estimate to more than 50%, with results to be published in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Aura noted that the programme will represent the ‘largest single drilling programme’ completed on the Tiris deposits.

Chief Executive Officer Will Goodall said: ‘We are pleased to announce the mobilisation of a diamond drill rig to Tiris. By upgrading the Resource Estimate, in parallel with planned development and construction, we will add the opportunity to expand the production targets early in the mine life.’

Aura Energy shares were up 6.1% at 11.40 pence each on Friday morning in London.
