Tintra PLC on Thursday announced it filed a UK patent application to protect the intellectual property created as part of its research and development programme.

The Windsor, England-based firm builds banking and infrastructure technology systems. Its shares were up 17% at 102.35 pence on Thursday in London following the announcement.

The patent seeks protection for the verification and authentication of independent digital wallets, especially in the context of its Web 3.0 intellectual property, the firm explained.

‘The IP we are protecting under this patent application forms part of our philosophy that legacy banking and Web 3.0 need not view each other as an existential threat. This filing is expected to protect our innovations as we seek to reach our goal of using artificial intelligence to make real change,’ said Chief Executive Richard Shearer.
