Directa Plus PLC on Monday said one of its graphene technologies was awarded a European patent.

The London-based graphene product maker said its G+ graphene technology was granted an Italian patent for air filtering applications.

These include automotive applications, as well as heating ventilation and air conditioning.

‘G+ graphene has huge potential in the air filtration market due to its antibacterial and antiviral qualities that maintain filter cleanliness, particularly during and after the filtering process,’ Directa Plus explained.

Shares in Directa Plus were up 4.8% to 87.00 pence in London on Monday morning.

Its intellectual portfolio now is comprised of 22 patent families, with 81 granted patents, and a further 36 pending.

‘Being awarded this new patent in the air filtration market demonstrates the breadth and depth of our graphene technology that can be used across a range of potential high growth market,’ said Chief Executive Officer & Founder Giulio Cesareo.
