Zenova Group PLC on Wednesday saw shares rise, after successfully concluding its collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University.

Zenova is an Essex-based fire safety and thermal insulation products provider.

Its project with Liverpool John Moores successfully demonstrated that a one millimetre-thick layer of Zenova IP, its thermal insulation paint, moved the energy performance certificate rating from E to D.

The study also found that the paint reduced heat energy consumption by over 25%, thus lowering fuel bills. It also reduced building carbon dioxide emissions by 19%.

‘This has been an amazing project working with Liverpool John Moores University and has demonstrated in detail the true benefits that Zenova IP can offer. We look forward to working with the University in the near future,’ said Chief Executive Officer Tony Crawley.

He added: ‘This validates the unique effectiveness of our insulating paint, within a growing sector that is highly topical with a clear need for such products. These findings will now allow the Zenova product to work as a standalone system, or with other products such as double glazing, solar, wall cavity to improve EPC ratings as combined systems.’

Zenova Group shares were trading 9.3% higher at 5.74 pence each in London on Wednesday at noon.
