BSF Enterprise PLC - London-based investor in biotechnology - Says its wholly-owned Newcastle subsidiary, 3D Bio-Tissues Ltd, produces a further two full-scale 100% cultivated pork fillets, as well as a pork strip, using its patented cell booster City-MixTM. Says meat products are ‘very similar’ in appearance to conventional meat in its raw state. Says a chef has been involved in the development to show that the cultivated meat can be ‘handled and cooked’ in the same way as traditional meat.

BSF first announced in February it had made the first lab-grown pork fillet in the UK, and has been focusing on increasing the thickness of the fillet since.

Managing Director at BSF Enterprise & Chief Executive Officer of 3D Bio Tissues Che Connon says: ‘Data collected from the study participants indicated comparable meat qualities to traditional pork meat, which was very pleasing and highly validating of our work. This gives us further confidence as we continue our conversations with potential customers to licence out the technologies demonstrated, as well as building on the agreements already secured.’
