Neo Energy Metals PLC on Tuesday said it appointed an exploration manager as it agreed in principle the lease of a new core shed for the advanced Henkries uranium project in South Africa.

The South Africa-focused uranium developer said it appointed Loni Gallant as exploration manager. She has 20 years of mining industry experience throughout Africa across commodities including uranium.

Meanwhile, the company appointed Avril van den Heever-Farmer as the site radiation protection officer. She has a 14-year history of work on Henkries.

Further, the company said it has been awarded a certificate of registration COR-302 license by South Africa’s national nuclear regulator for the prospecting right to allow exploration and sampling at site to start.

Neo Energy Metals said it agreed in principle the lease of a new core shed for its advanced Henkries uranium project in the northern cape of South Africa, which the firm expects will reduce site costs for the project.

Neo Energy Metals Chief Executive Officer Sean Heathcote said: ‘We are confident that Loni’s boundless energy and recent experience in the Northern Cape region will help us as we look to expand the project’s resource base, while Avril’s long standing tenure with Henkries will enable a continuity in the body of knowledge for the project.’

Neo Energy Metals shares fell 6.1% to 0.66 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
