A new index has been launched looking at the transparency of UK-listed mining, oil and gas firms when it comes to their corporate and social responsibility (CSR) work.

Produced by land citizenship campaign site CSR21 this index is scored out of nine, with the score resulting from an aggregate of Yes/No scores for a number of criteria (where a ?yes? result, scoring one point, indicates that the relevant information is available in the public domain, and a ?no? result, scoring 0, indicates no available information).

The table shows the top Main Market and AIM companies on this measure. Of 290 companies surveyed, just over one third reported any kind of CSR project or programme; this is despite nearly two thirds of extractive companies making public statements or commitments to CSR practice.
