Mulberry Group PLC on Tuesday said Non-Executive Chair Godfrey Davis will step down from the board on September 30 this year.

The luxury fashion company said Non-Executive Director Chris Roberts will succeed Davis as the new chair on the same date.

Chief Executive Officer Thierry Andretta said: ‘Over the past 10 years [Davis] has provided sound counsel, direction and support to the board of directors and we wish him well for the future.’

Mulberry noted Davis joined the company in 1987 as finance director, then chief executive and lastly as chair.

‘Davis will remain associated with Mulberry as life president in a non-board role to continue to allow the group to benefit from his extensive experience,’ the company said.

Mulberry said new chair Roberts has a broad experience of international property markets, branded luxury hospitality sector, and global financial markets.

Roberts is managing director of financial services firm Como Holdings (UK) Ltd, a company owned by Ong Beng Seng and Christina Ong, who ultimately also own Chalice Ltd, a 56.2% shareholder in Mulberry.

The company said it plans to appoint an additional independent non-executive director and name a senior independent director in the near future.

Shares were down 3.1% at 267.50 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
