Oracle Power PLC on Friday said it has joined the Dii Desert Energy organisation as an associate partner.

The Cambridge, England-based power and natural resource project developer with focus on Pakistan said its involvement will be targeted at Dii’s MENA Hydrogen Alliance, which brings together companies and science & academic bodies to create local hydrogen economies.

The alliance also seeks to explore opportunities for export revenue, substituting fossil fuels and using existing infrastructure such as gas pipelines.

Dii Desert Energy is an international network, operating form Dubai, which aims to harness emission-free energy from desert areas in the Middle East and North Africa, and includes businesses like Shell PLC, EDF, Siemens Energy AG, thyssenkrupp AG and E.ON SE.

The company said its strategy is to use its membership of Dii to accelerate the commercialisation of its green hydrogen project in Pakistan, which is expected to produce 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year once construction is completed.

Oracle shares were 1.0% higher at 0.17 pence each on Friday afternoon in London.
