Ariana Resources PLC on Monday said it has begun resource infill and extension drilling at the Kizilcukur gold project in Turkey.

Ariana is a London-based mineral exploration and development company with gold mining interests in Turkey, Cyprus and Kosovo.

It said the drilling campaign at Kizilcukur comes after a recent airborne magnetic survey scanning 2,500 metres of historical drill core identified new gold potential mineralisation zones along strike from known veins.

Kizilcukur is part of Zenit Madencilik San ve Tic AS, a partnership with Proccea Construction Co and Ozaltin Holding AS. Ariana holds 24% of the project.

Ariana Resources added that 3,000 metres of drilling will take place, and the programme will be managed alongside Zenit.

Shares in Ariana Resources were up 6.4% at 2.50 pence each in London on Monday morning.
