Vertu Motors PLC on Wednesday said its Companies House records have been changed, following a ‘malicious actor’ changing records.

Vertu Motors is a Gateshead, England-based car dealership chain with 193 outlets.

At the start of November, Vertu said company records at Companies House had been ‘falsely amended by a malicious actor’ to say that several directors have resigned, replaced by two new ones. Vertu confirmed its board remains unchanged.

On Wednesday, Vertu said the incorrect filings will be removed ‘in due course.’

‘Vertu Motors has also been successful in obtaining an injunction against the malicious actor responsible for the previous false amendments, preventing this individual and his associated company from purporting to represent the company in any capacity in the future,’ the company said.

Shares in Vertu closed up 2.9% to 78.70 pence each in London on Wednesday.
