GreenRoc Mining PLC on Wednesday said it had received approval to enlarge its exclusive mineral exploration licence at its flagship asset.

The Greenland-focused mineral explorer said that, following the approval of its application by the government of Greenland, the licence area of its Amitsoq project in the highly prospective Nanortalik graphite district has increased to 114 square kilometres from 68km2.

Chief Executive Officer Stefan Bernstein said: ‘GreenRoc now has all of the Nanortalik graphite district under licence - a district with extensive high-grade natural flake graphite mineralisation which is easily accessible via deep, ice-free tidal waters.’

The approval follows new legislation which came into effect in January, expediting the application process for exploration licences in Greenland.

GreenRoc shares were down 4.9% to 1.52 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
