Tekcapital PLC on Friday said that technology developed by its portfolio company, Guident Ltd, will be used in autonomous vehicles built by Talinn-Estonia-based AuVe Tech OU.

The London-based intellectual property investor specialises in transforming technologies developed in universities into products that can be commercialised and used to improve peoples lives.

Tekcapital said that Guident’s patented technology, which was designed to enhance the safety of autonomous vehicles, will be incorporated into the latest generation of self-driving shuttles developed by AuVe Tech.

According to TekCapital, AuVe Tech’s MiCa shuttle is designed for simple integration into existing transport networks and can operate across a diverse range of environments. It is the company’s flagship product in the US market and following today’s announcement will adopt Guident safety monitoring and control software.

AuVe Tech said: ‘We eagerly anticipate rapid deployment of our innovative combined solution in the US and worldwide.’

Tekcapital shares were down 0.1% to 8.24 pence each in London on Friday afternoon.
