Filtronic PLC - Leeds-based antenna maker - Says it swung to a pretax profit of £685,000 in the six months to November 30, from a loss at £143,000 a year before.

Attributes this to margin improvement from a stronger sales mix. Reports that revenue increased 12% to £8.0 million from £7.1 million the year before, coming broadly in line with internal forecasts.

Explains revenue growth with the recovery of the ‘critical’ communications market in North America, and the culmination of some long-term development programmes.

States that its ‘robust’ orderbook, a ‘strong’ balance sheet, and a recent contract win for a new test equipment customer, position it ‘favourably’ for revenue growth in line with expectations in the second half.

Also expects to deliver a rise in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization in second half.

Current stock price: 12.44 pence, up 5.9% on Tuesday
