Mobile Streams PLC on Thursday said it will be launching a virtual cricket game in India in a bid to gain a foothold in the fast-growing Indian fantasy sports industry.

The London-based mobile content provider said its customised version of the 11 Wickets cricket game will be hosted on India’s largest phone network Jio Infocomm Ltd. It will be made available on the Jio Game Store next week, it added.

Mobile Streams said it has been working with the fantasy cricket game’s publisher Ability Games Ltd and Jio for almost seven months.

According to a Ficci-EY report, the Indian fantasy sports industry is expected to reach $2.5 billion in 2022. The industry is growing at a 32% compound annual growth rate and is expected to worth $3.7 billion by 2024.

Chief Commercial Officer Tim Scoffham said: ‘After 7 months of collaboration between us, the network and the publisher we are extremely pleased to deliver a fantastic game and significant revenue generating opportunity into India’s largest network. This is just the next step for the company as we continue our expansion.’

Shares in Mobile Streams were up 2.5% to 0.29 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
