Microsaic Systems PLC on Monday said it has been appointed by Kingfield Electronics Ltd as a partner for scientific instrumentation and micro-engineering.

Shares in the Surrey-based mass spectrometry equipment company were up 7.1% to 0.083 pence each in London on Monday morning.

Kingfield provides microelectronic turnkey contract manufacturing solutions to companies. The company has clients across commercial and military aerospace, defence applications on land, sea and air, oil & petrochemical, medical device, process manufacturing and scientific instrumentation industries.

Microsaic said that Kingfield has appointed it as an authorised partner for front-end research, development, and engineering product development in scientific instrumentation and micro-engineering.

Kingfield currently supplies outsourced manufacturing to the company for its microelectronic component instrumentation and assembly. In particular, Microsaic noted that Kingfield currently offers fully integrated turnkey solutions, box build, printed circuit board assembly, commissioning, final test, service, retrofit and world-wide shipping logistics.

‘This new partnership represents a further opportunity for Microsaic to provide additional services leveraging its considerable expertise in high quality technical design, engineering and solutions delivery, as it continues to diversify its income streams,’ the company said.

Acting Executive Chair Gerry Brandon said: ‘This upstream value-added service of front-end research, development and engineering design, complemented with pilot line manufacture, to validate manufacturability and scalability prior to transfer to Kingfield as the volume manufacturer, is a commercially perfect fit.’
