3i Infrastructure PLC on Monday said it completes its acquisition of global data communications service provider Global Cloud Xchange.
Bermuda-based Global Cloud is owner of ‘the world’s largest’ private subsea fibre optic network, 3i Infrastructure said. The 66,000 kilometres of cable span 46 countries from North America ‘with a particularly strong position on the Europe-Asia and Intra-Asia routes’, 3i had said in November.
Jersey-based 3i Infrastructure said the acquisition was for a total price of $377 million instead of previously announced $512 million as ‘additional acquisition debt was raised in March 2022, reducing 3i Infrastructure’s previously announced equity commitment’.
3i Infrastructure shares were 1.0% lower at 333.26 pence each in London on Monday morning.
