Inchcape PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed its current interim chief financial officer, Adrian Lewis, as its new permanent CFO, and as an executive director, effective immediately.

The London-based automotive distributor said the appointment follows a ‘rigorous and comprehensive selection process’ of both internal and external candidates.

As interim CFO, Lewis managed the completion of Inchcape’s Derco acquisition, the company noted. Lewis was previously the Asia-Pacific CFO of Inchcape, having started at the company as CFO of the Emerging Markets region.

‘I am very pleased that Adrian has been appointed as group CFO and I look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver our accelerate strategy. Adrian has already made an impressive contribution asinterim CFO and he brings extensive industry experience that will complement our global executive team,’ Chief Executive Duncan Tait commented.

Chair Nigel Stein said: ‘Adrian’s deep knowledge of Inchcape’s business and his combination of group and regional experience will provide the executive team and the board with valuable insight. His appointment demonstrates the exceptional breadth and depth of talent we continue to build at Inchcape.’

Inchcape shares fell 0.7% to 793.50 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
