CMC Markets PLC on Monday said it has appointed Albert Soleiman as its new chief financial officer.

Soleiman was appointed as CFO on Friday. He had joined the London-based online trading platform in 2005 and became head of tax in 2008.

In 2019 he joined Bitfury UK Ltd as global tax director before rejoining CMC in 2020 to lead the launch of the CMC Invest business. ‘CMC Invest is a key element of our strategy to diversify the business and leverage our technologies and which enables our clients to generate long-term wealth through its investing platforms,’ the company explained.

Soleiman takes over from Euan Marshall, who stepped down as finance chief on Friday, after holding the role since 2019. He will remain with the company for the next few months to support the orderly transition of the CFO role, CMC said.

In July, CMC announced that Marshall had resigned to take up the position of CFO at fellow FTSE 250-listing IntegraFin Holdings PLC. At the time, it said that he will stay with the company until January 2019.

At the end of August, it was announced that CMC Markets will be removed from the FTSE 250 index.

Chair James Richards said: ‘Albert has a deep knowledge of the group which will support the execution of our diversification strategy. We have worked closely with Albert as he has developed the CMC Invest business and I look forward to working with him as a board member.’

CMC will release its results for the half-year ending September 30 on November 16.

CMC Markets shares rose 2.6% to 110.60 pence each on Monday morning in London.
