Tharisa PLC - Cyprus-headquartered platinum miner - Says its subsidiary Karo Mining Holdings PLC has appointed Andrew Henwood as financial director, with effect from June 5. Henwood is responsible for corporate finance at Tharisa.

Karo in developing a platinum mine in Zimbabwe, which will be its second tier platinum group metal asset. It started construction of bulk earthworks in December 2022, and the first concrete was poured in June 2023. In the same month, open pit pilot mining commenced with the objective of optimising the mining methods and producing ore to further test and refine metallurgical processing. Karo will process about 2.5 million tonnes of ore per year, and produce 190,000 ounts annually.
