CRH PLC is to join the S&P 500 later this month, according to an index rebalancing announced on Friday.

The Dublin-based building materials company joins the index from December 22 as part of a quarterly index review. E-commerce firm Carvana Co and service provider for mechanical, electrical and plumbing building systems Comfort Systems USA Inc also join the index.

Alternative and speciality vehicle parts provider LKQ Corp, flooring firm Mohawk Industries Inc and recent Honeywell Corp spin-off Solstice Advanced Materials Inc are to exit the S&P 500. That trio join the S&P SmallCap 600.

CRH is also listed in London. Shares there traded 6.3% higher at 9,620.00 pence each just after midday. In New York, shares were up 7.1% in pre-market trade.
