Diploma PLC on Wednesday said it has formally appointed Wilson Ng, currently acting chief financial officer, to the CFO role.
Ng’s promotion is effective immediately, with the firm noting: ‘After a comprehensive internal and external selection process, Wilson was the stand-out candidate.’
London-based Diploma supplies technical products and services to various sectors including aerospace, transport, energy and healthcare.
The firm hired chartered accountant Ng as group financial controller back in 2022, and in August, named him acting CFO following the abrupt departure of Chris Davies.
Former CFO Davies resigned from the company after his ‘behaviour did not meet the high standards required’ at a business event, according to Diploma. The company stressed that his resignation was not related to financial performance.
Shares in Diploma traded 0.1% lower at 5,360.00 pence on Wednesday morning in London, having risen 23% in the past year.
Chief Executive Johnny Thomson commented on Ng: ‘He has great commercial finance experience, a deep knowledge of our business, and brilliant relationships across the group. We’re focused on developing our talent and I’m very pleased that we can promote from within for such an important role.’
