Serabi Gold PLC on Monday said it has appointed Michael Lynch-Bell as non-executive chair with immediate effect.

He will be replacing Nicolas Banados, who was in the role at the Brazil-focused gold miner for two years at the since 2020 and will move over to the role of non-executive director.

Lynch-Bell is currently non-executive director of London-based diamond producer Gem Diamonds Ltd and Sandton-based industrial group Barloworld Ltd, and was formerly part of accountants Ernst & Young for 38 years from 1974 to 2012.

‘I am delighted to have Michael join the board of directors of the company as non-executive chairman. He brings a wealth of international mining experience to Serabi and will provide significant insight in his role as independent chairman,’ said Chief Executive Officer Mike Hodgson.

Shares in Serabi Gold were up 0.8% at 38.80 pence on Monday in London.
