SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Capital & Regional PLC, up 18% at 60.79 pence, 12-month range 48.88p-61.00p. Vukile Property Fund Ltd makes an offer for Capital & Regional. It says that the cash and share offer is a non-binding indicative proposal. ‘This announcement does not constitute a firm intention to make an offer and, accordingly, there can be no certainty that any offer for Capital & Regional will be made, nor as to the terms on which any offer might be made,’ Vukile says. Meanwhile, NewRiver REIT makes proposal to Growthpoint Properties, which has a 68% stake in Capital & Regional.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, down 9.0% at 546.00p, 12-month range 365.00p-618.00p. The London-base publishing house says that after seven years Richard Lambert plans to step down as chair. He will retire on July 16 at the company’s annual general meeting. John Bason, current independent non-executive director, will succeed Lambert as chair. Bason is also a non-executive director at SSE.
