Wall Street showed further signs of resilience at the commencement of trading today, despite mixed messages coming from EU leaders, as investors focus on matters closer to hand.
Shortly after the open, the Dow was up 0.32%, the S&P 500 was 0.33% higher and the Nasdaq was up 0.42%.
At around 2.45pm (GMT), WTI crude was 0.37% lower at $51.1 a barrel and Brent was down 0.13% at $57.1 per barrel.
Gold was off by 0.55% at $1,282.9 per ounce, as was silver.
Existing home sales data from the National Association of Realtors is due today.
