The London-based publisher says for the year ended February 28, revenue will be ‘comfortably ahead and profit materially ahead of upgraded market expectations’. Current revenue consensus stands at £212.5 million, while pretax profit expectations are at £22.3 million.

John Menzies PLC, up 3.9% at 592.00p, 12-month range 248.50p-605.00p. The Edinburgh-based aviation services and cargo handling company accepts a 680p takeover from GIL International Holdings V Ltd, a subsidiary of Kuwait’s Agility Public Warehousing Co KSCP. It had previously rebuffed the Kuwaiti firm. The deal values Menzies at £571 million on a fully diluted basis and offers an enterprise value of £763 million. Menzies has a market capitalisation of £544.2 million.

Esken Ltd, down 4.4% at 10.88p, 12-month range 9.49p-38.55p. The stock falls after a 5.4% gain on Tuesday. The stock has see-sawed in recent trading days. It fell 4.1% last Thursday before rising 5.6% at the end of last week. It started this week with a 5.3% fall but rose 5.4% on Tuesday. The Carlisle, England-based company works in infrastructure, aviation and energy services.

Gym Group PLC, down 2.9% at 194.00p, 12-month range 176.40p-317.50p. Leisure stocks were weaker amid a more risk-off mood in markets on Wednesday. Elsewhere on the Main Market, Cineworld Group PLC shares were 3.4% lower and Wagamama owner Restaurant Group PLC was down 3.0%.
