SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Capita, up 8.9% at 27.78 pence, 12-month range 19.89p-55.98p. The outsourcer reports a contract extension and a business disposal. Capita secures an extension worth £42.7 million to its contract with Barnet Council. It could be worth up to £57 million with indexation and potential additional work, it adds. Separately, Capita says it has agreed to sell payments business Pay360 to Access PaySuite, a division of Access Group, in a £150 million deal. ‘The sale will help reduce indebtedness and provide additional liquidity, which together shall further strengthen Capita’s balance sheet, whilst also allowing Capita to enhance its digital offerings for clients,’ the company says.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Oxford Biomedica PLC, down 7.7% at 405.5p, 12-month range 387.5p-1,678p. Stock extends loss after shedding 3.9% on Thursday. Gene and cell therapy company on Thursday reported a swing to interim loss and a decline in interim revenue.

DFS Furniture PLC, down 4.2% at 129.4p, 12-month range 114.4p-287.23p. The sofa seller hit a low of 115.73p on Thursday following its annual results, but recovered some poise to only end the day 0.6% lower. However, resumes downwards move on Friday. On Thursday, DFS reported a disappointing annual performance, in a year plagued with operational challenges.
