  • City of London most bought second month in a row
  • Nvidia tops stock buys again
  • Renewables trust UK Greencoat Wind sparks interest

Investors across the AJ Bell platform have been piling into artificial intelligence (AI) 'darling' Nvidia (NVDA:NASDAQ) and oil giant Shell (SHEL) before the end of the tax year.

FTSE 100 aero-engine maker Rolls Royce (RR.) also makes appearance in the top five of most bought shares by AJ Bell customers in March.

Over the past month, Rolls Royce shares are up over 11%.

In contrast, US business intelligence firm MicroStrategy (MSTR:NASDAQ) and  Lloyds Banking (LLOY) are the most sold stocks for March at 6.51% and 6.41% respectively – the second month in a row.

The sell-off related to MicroStrategy comes as no surprise, as analysts expect the US firm’s revenue to barely budge for full year 2024, forecasting $505 million, with net profits predicted to plunge to just $1.41 million.

CITY OF LONDON MOST BOUGHT AGAIN

City of London (CTY) is the most bought investment trust for the second month in a row.

The trust is often seen by investors as a 'gateway' to investing in large international companies.

Why City of London is so popular with investors

Scottish Mortgage (SMT) and high yielding renewables investment trust Greencoat UK Wind (UKW) make up the top three most bought investment trusts.

Scottish Mortgage is also the most sold investment trust in March.

Fidelity Index World (FUND:BJS8SJ3) appears in the top three most bought funds, and Terry Smith’s Fundsmith Equity (B41YBW7) is the most sold fund for a third month in a row.

It is however worth noting that the number of deals says nothing about the value of the overall transactions.
